As a precautionary measure, large parts of the university’s IT infrastructure were shut down or disconnected immediately after the attack was identified. The Executive University Board immediately established a crisis management team. It also put together a team comprising the IT service at the university as well as external experts in IT forensics and cyber security to analyse and restore the situation. Thanks to the swift action that was taken, HsH was able to implement measures to secure its IT systems within a short space of time. Employees, students and external cooperation partners of the university were informed about the cyber-attack at short notice via the main website and, where possible, directly.
Courses will generally take place as planned. Students will be notified of any exceptions or changes to courses and this information will be made available on the relevant faculty information page. In the event that the disruption to the IT infrastructure has an impact on examinations, this will be taken into consideration by the examination boards.
